Teachers are able to plan different kinds of lessons.

Evidence 1: *Need SmartBoard Notebook 10 to open.

Rationale 1: A SmartBoard was recently installed in my classroom, and I have received Level 1 training to incorporate lessons into my classroom curriculum. As part of the Shakespeare unit in Sophomore English, I designed a review activity after Act 1 of The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. This evidence shows that I have attempted to plan different types of lessons for my students. Using the SmartBoard for a review instead of a worksheet motivated students to focus on the material for the quiz given the next day.

7.K.2 The teacher knows how to take contextual considerations (instructional materials; individual student interests, needs, and aptitudes; and community resources) into account when planning instruction that creates an effective bridge between curriculum goals and students’ experiences.
Most of my students have not used SmartBoards until this year, so incorporating lessons that utilize the SmartBoard has given new life to old lesson plans. I have been able to adjust my materials by increasing the interest level for my students. The SmartBoard gives the students more of a “hands-on” approach to learning.

7.S.2 The teacher plans for learning opportunities that recognize and address variation in learning styles, learning differences, and performance modes.
Not all students learn with just the pencil and paper method. When I use the SmartBoard in the classroom, the learning opportunities for all students increase. The SmartBoard is a resource that catches the attention of students from all learning styles.

7.D.2 The teacher believes that plans must always be open to adjustment and revision based on student needs and changing circumstances.
Since the SmartBoard is new to both me and my students, the lessons that I have designed so far will go through several stages of revision and adjustment. As I do with non-digital lesson plans, I will continue to make notes every time I use a SmartBoard lesson and make appropriate revisions for the future.
